What should my homeowner deductible be?
Generally, you should choose a deductible that is the most you can comfortably pay in the event of a loss. Higher deductibles lower your premium though deductible credits. Plus, avoiding the filing of small claims helps keep your policy more affordable and reduces the likelihood the insurance company will cancel your polilcy. Today, most of us should think in terms of a $500 deductible or higher.
